The Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP) is a not for profit membership organisation that works to improve tea sustainability, the lives of tea workers, and the environment in which tea is produced.
All of the tea Douwe Egberts buys comes from producers participating in the ETP programme.
The organization works in three key areas:
1. Monitoring and certification
ETP assesses tea producers against international social and environmental standards and helps them to improve their performance. Their work helps producers achieve certification to and has set up a formal relationship with all major certification programmes, including UTZ Certified.
2. Producer support
We give producers free training and support to improve conditions and tackle commonly found problems ranging from health and safety to improving labor and environmental practices
3. Strategic sustainability
ETP also tackles issues that pose a threat to the long-term sustainability of the tea supply chain and that go beyond the normal scope of auditing. Examples of strategic sustainability include climate change and social development.
